HELSINKI, April 03. /ITAR-TASS/. Finland will continue to develop cooperation with Russia at different levels despite recommendations it is getting from the European Union, the Cabinet Committee on Foreign and Security Policy said in a statement published on Thursday.
“The long border between Finland and Russia requires well-functioning and large-scale cooperation and interaction at different levels even in the current exceptional circumstances,” the statement says. “This is also the key to reach long-term objectives in the EU-Russian relations.”
“Finland will cooperate with Russia at the highest level when necessary. But it will also foster positive changes in the situation with Ukraine,” it says. “We should continue searching for political solutions to the conflict. It is important to involve Russia and make it possible for Russia and Ukraine to start a meaningful dialogue.
