MOSCOW, April 03. /ITAR-TASS/. Trade turnover between Russia and Kazakhstan reached an unprecedented $26.5 billion last year, up nearly 5% on 2012, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after talks with Kazakhstan counterpart Yerlan Idrisov on Thursday.

“Trade, economic and investment co-operation is at the core of our relations,” Idrisov said. “Russia is our ally and our biggest trade and economic partner. These figures are particularly impressive but our potential is much higher.” he said.

“We have submitted the bilateral treaty on good neighborly and allied relations in the 21st century for ratification to the Russian president. I hope that our countries will finalize all procedures, and the document will come into force,” the Russian minister stated. “I am confident that talks will be useful to advance tasks set by the presidents,” Lavrov added.
