3 police commandoes suspected of Kiev protesters’ shooting detained in Ukraine

KIEV, April 03. /ITAR-TASS/. The Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office, the country’s Security Service and the country’s Interior Ministry have detained three Berkut police commandoes on suspicion of mass shooting of people in central Kiev on February 20, news agency Ukrinform reported on Thursday.

“The detainees are officers of Kiev police commando squadron Berkut, the so-called “black squadron”. They are suspected of mass killing of people,” the news agency quoted Prosecutor General Oleh Makhnitsky as saying. In the words of the general prosecutor, the detention operation was carried out on Wednesday evening and criminal proceedings were instituted. “Several other suspects in the February 20 events were identified,” Makhnitsky added.

Ukrainian chief law enforcers will deliver officially an intermediate report over investigation of shooting case of people at protest actions in central Kiev on Thursday.
