MOSCOW, April 02. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s top diplomat has emphasised the need for a global contribution to overcoming the crisis in Ukraine.

In a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State John Kerry on Wednesday Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called for taking joint efforts to start a dialogue over Ukraine.

“The Russian and US high-ranking diplomats continued discussions to start a broad inter-Ukrainian dialogue based on nationwide accord,” the Russian Foreign Ministry says.

“The parties expressed concern over decisions taken by the NATO Council and the Ukraine-NATO Commission,” the ministry says.

Lavrov and Kerry also discussed the Middle East settlement and the deadlock in Palestinian-Israeli talks.

They agreed to continue close contacts, the ministry says.
