TEL AVIV, April 01. /ITAR-TASS/. Palestine highly appreciates Russia’s political and economic support, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said at talks with Russian Foreign Minister’s Special Envoy for the Middle East Settlement Sergei Vershinin in Ramallah on Tuesday.
The talks were held at Abbas’ residence in Ramallah in the West Bank. The Palestinian leader hailed Russia’s role in the process of the Middle East settlement. The sides discussed the prospects of the peace process with Israel and the progress at consultation between the Palestinians and the United States on that issue.
Vershinin, in turn, reiterated that Moscow was committed to the principle “two states for two peoples” and supported the right of the Palestinian people to have their own state, WAFA news agency reported.
