Israel strikes Syrian army targets

The Israeli army struck the training camp of the Syrian army, a military headquarters and artillery batteries in retaliation for Tuesday's roadside bombing in the Golan Heights

TEL AVIV, March 19. /ITAR-TASS/. Israel Air Force has struck Syrian army targets in retaliation for roadside bombing in the Golan Heights on Tuesday, the press-service of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.

“The Israeli army struck the training camp of the Syrian army, a military headquarters and artillery batteries, which made yesterday’s attack possible,” IDF official representative Peter Lerner said.

“Tuesday’s attack on soldiers of the Israeli army is an inadmissible escalation of violence from the Syrian side,” Lerner added. Israel “will not tolerate such threat to its citizens and armed forces” and “will fulfil its mission of preventing and defending [the country] from Syria’s hostile actions,” he noted.

Four soldiers were wounded on Tuesday in roadside bombings in the Golan Heights on the border with Syria. “We can confirm that four Israeli soldiers were wounded as a result of a bombing on the border with Syria,” the army representative said.
