BEIJING, March 17. /ITAR-TASS/. China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said the Crimean problem should be solved by political means.
“China has always respected and will respect independence and territorial integrity of other countries,” Hong Lei said.
“The parties involved in the conflict should show restraint and avoid actions, which can aggravate disagreements,” he said.
“The international community should play a constructive role in order to ease tension,” Hong Lei said.
The referendum on Crimea’s status was held on March 16. The turnout exceeded 83%. The referendum commission chairman, Mikhail Malyshev, said, “A total of 99.7% voted for reunification with Russia.
