Turnout at referendum in Crimea exceeds 50% as of 16:00 Moscow time

“The turnout has reached 54% as of 14:00 local time,” the commission said

SIMFEROPOL, March 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Turnout at the referendum on Crimea’s status has exceeded 50% as of 16:00 Moscow time, the referendum commission told KrymInform on Saturday.

“The turnout has reached 54% as of 14:00 local time,” the commission said.

A voter turnout has not been envisioned at the referendum.

However, the fact that the turnout exceeded 50% is symbolic. Moreover, polling stations will be closed in five hours and it is obvious that the turnout will increase, the referendum commission said.
