Crimea has enough self-defense units to maintain order - official

SIMFEROPOL, March 12. /ITAR-TASS/. Crimea can alert up to 7,000 militia within an hour in case the situation worsens, Crimean Supreme Council chairman Volodymyr Konstantinov told reporters on Wednesday.

"Aside from this force, the republic has several battalions of armed forces that have already taken the oath of allegiance, and local units of the Berkut special task force police," Konstantinov said.

"Our self-defense force comprises well-organized persons; it's a powerful force sufficient for restoring order," he added.
