TEHRAN, March 12. /ITAR-TASS/. Moscow and Tehran “have reached a preliminary agreement on the construction of at least two new nuclear power units in Iran”. The Iranian national news agency IRNA reported this on Wednesday with reference to Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesperson for Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.

The parties are expected to discuss technical and economic conditions in the near future, the spokesperson said.

Rosatom State Corporation and Iran maintain permanent consultations to continue cooperation on the construction of new power units. “Such cooperation can develop on the mutually advantageous basis and in compliance with Russia’s international obligations,” the Rosatom press service said.

“These days the parties have met. The talks have been held in a constructive atmosphere. However no documents have been planning to be signed,” the press service said.
