Ukraine sets 1,500 ministerial cars for sale

KIEV, March 05. /ITAR-TASS/. The Ukrainian Government has decided to put 1,500 ministerial cars on auction, Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Shlapak said on Wednesday.

“We’ll retain one car per ministry (for the minister). The rest, about 1,500 vehicles, will be evaluated and sold under public control,” he said adding the measure would not affect police, firefighting and emergency cars. The proceeds will go to the national budget.

This decision is part of an austerity program proposed by Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who was approved as prime minister by the Verkhovna Rada.
