MADRID, March 05. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia and the West should change the logic of confrontation to the logic of cooperation in Ukraine, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo said after talks with visiting Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in the Spanish capital on Wednesday.

“International law and Ukraine’s legislative foundations should be respected,” the Spanish foreign minister said. “The logic of dialogue on the Ukrainian issue cannot be replaced with the logic of confrontation,” he noted.

“It is needed to observe international law, including the Helsinki Final Act of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe,” the Spanish foreign minister noted.

As for prospects of settlement of the situation in Ukraine, Garcia-Margallo emphasized that “inclusive process of reforms is needed for this so that each minority will be able to live freely in Ukraine."
