KIEV, March 05, /ITAR-TASS/. Sergei Sobolev, first deputy head of the Ukrainian party Batkivshchina’s parliamentary faction, has been appointed new acting head of the faction, the party reported.
“The decision was made unanimously today at the faction’s meeting,” the party said in a statement on Tuesday.
Sobolev replaced Arseny Yatsenyuk, who has been appointed by the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, as the country’s new prime minister.
Ukraine saw its president, Viktor Yanukovich, ousted in a violent uprising in February. The Rada then appointed an interim head of state, set early presidential elections and approved a new government led by Yatsenyuk.
