Yanukovych says power in Ukraine seized by pro-fascist roughnecks

ROSTOV-ON-DON, February 28. /ITAR-TASS/. State power in Ukraine has been grabbed by nationalistic pro-fascist roughnecks representing an absolute minority of the country’s population.

“You know that roughnecks, who are nationalistic and pro-fascist and who represent an absolute minority of people in Ukraine have seized power,” Viktor Yanukovych said.

Yanukovych demanded an unbiased investigation of the tragic events in Kiev that would involve representatives of the government, opposition and the Council of Europe.

He believes that the way out of the situation lies in fulfilling all the provisions contained in the agreement signed by the President of Ukraine and the opposition with the assistance of foreign ministers of France, Germany, and Poland and the authorized representative of the Russian Federation.

The case in hand is an immediate start of the constitutional reform that would put all the branches of power into balance, i.e. the powers of the President and the Verkhovna Rada, Yanukovych said.

After the completion of the reform in September, a presidential election could be held in December 2014 and it would lead up to the adoption of a new Constitution.
