Russian lawmaker studies situation in Crimea, meets Sevastopol mayor

MOSCOW, February 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Sergei Mironov, leader of A Just Russia party, has visited Crimea, the autonomous republic on the northern coast of the Black Sea, to study the situation and meet Sevastopol Mayor Aleksei Chalyi, the party’s press service reported.

Mironov and Chalyi “exchanged views on prospects for the events in Crimea”, the press service said.

He also conferred with self-defence units, which had been created in Crimea to protect the republic from provocations and violence.

The parliamentarian said he would leave for Simferopol shortly.
