Ukraine's border control toughened

Pass control has been toughened at all customs points in Ukraine’s Transcarpathian Region to prevent the exportation of historical and cultural values

KIEV, February 26. /ITAR-TASS/. Pass control has been toughened at all customs points in Ukraine’s Transcarpathian Region to prevent the exportation of historical and cultural values, the Prosecutor General’s Office press service reported on Wednesday.

A decision to this effect was taken due to the fact “that there is a threat to illegal exportation of the Ukrainian Museum Fund’s unique monuments and values, which have scientific, historical, art or other cultural significance”, the press service said.

“It is necessary to rivet attention to restrictions on foreign currency diversion without a corresponding licence,” it added.

Museums funds in the Ukrainian House and other museums in Kiev have been robbed during riots in the Ukrainian capital.
