Former interior minister not allowed to leave Ukraine

KIEV, February 23. /ITAR-TASS/. Frontier guards prevented Ukraine’s former interior minister Vitaly Zakharchenko from leaving the country, the Ukrainian National News Agency (UNN) reported.

“Former Interior Minister Vitaly Zakharchenko tried to leave Ukraine on Saturday, but border guards did not let him out because he lacked necessary documents. He arrived at the airport of Donetsk and tried to fly abroad on a charter flight,” the news agency cited the assistant head of the Ukrainian State Border Service, Sergei Astakhov, as saying. According to the service, he was not reported as crossing other border check points.

Zakharchenko was sacked on Friday after being blamed for the deaths of civilians in last week’s developments.
