KIEV, February 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Disorders in Ukraine must be viewed as steps away from democracy and threat to all achievements of the country and the region, Donetsk regional administration head Andrei Shishatsky told Itar-Tass.

"All illegal actions in Kiev and other cities throw Ukraine away from democracy back to the Middle Ages," he noted. "Everything we have fought and prayed for and everything we exerted every effort and tirelessly worked for may be crossed out with one barbarian pen stroke of war." "There will be no winners in it. All will lose," Shishatsky said.

He compared the Donetsk region with an island of accord and understanding and thanked all fellow countrymen for this.

The regional authorities are with their people and will do everything in their power to prevent escalation of aggression and extremism in the region, he assured.
