Yanukovich appoints Yuri Ilyin commander-in-chief of Ukrainian army

KIEV, February 20. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich appointed Yuri Ilyin chief of the General Staff - commander-in-chief of Ukraine's armed forces, the presidential press service reported on Wednesday.

Ilyin, who was commander of the Ukrainian Navy is replacing Vladimir Zamanu. Yanukovich's separate decree appointed Zamanu deputy secretary of the country's National Security and Defense Council.
