KIEV, February 19. /ITAR-TASS/. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has dismissed the media rumors it is redeploying military units in order to dissolve protesters in Kiev.
“The reports of troop redeployments for the purpose of using force against demonstrators in Kiev have nothing to do with the reality,” the Defense Ministry told ITAR-TASS.
The ministry added that “in view of the worsening socio-political situation in the country and for the purpose of preventing thefts of weapons, ammunition and other military property the Ukrainian armed forces are reinforcing the security of bases, warehouses and other facilities.”
The standard security personnel will be reinforced by highly mobile airborne troops.
