Rescuers evacuate 30 people from burning Trade Union House in central Kiev

KIEV, February 19, (ITAR-TASS) - From the burning Trade Union House in central Kiev rescuers have evacuated 30 people, Ukraine’s emergency situations service reported on Wednesday.

“As of 03:00 (05:00 Moscow time), evacuated are 30 people, who were on floors 3-9,” the service said.

“The rescue mission involved 80 firefighters and rescuers, seven fire extinguishing vehicles,” Kiev’s municipal administration says.

The rescue operation is underway. There is no information on how many people may remain in the building.

Some time earlier this night, people were evacuated from the lower floors on ropes. No calamities have been reported.

Meanwhile the television showed a fire vehicle, which was blocked in the attempt to get to the House, which was considered to be the opposition’s so-called “headquarters of the national protest.”

The radicals in Independence Square continue burning tyres in attempts to get separated from the riot police.
