CHISINAU, February 12. /ITAR-TASS/. Thick fog that descended on the areas in the vicinity of the Moldovan capital Chisinau Wednesday has paralyzed the operations of Chisinau international airport, entailing postponements or cancellations of dozens of flights, including two flights to Sochi where the 22nd Winter Olympic Games are in progress and one flight to Moscow.
Inbound flights from Dubai, Munich and Frankfurt were diverted to standby airports in neighboring countries.
Moldova’s state hydrometeorology service also warned about a dangerous situation on the country’s automobile roads and especially in the central and northern parts in the country, as visibility in some places there did not exceed 200 meters Wednesday afternoon.
Road police asked the drivers to exercise maximum attention and to put off unessential trips.
