Lavrov, Kerry discuss situation around Syria

MOSCOW, February 11. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday had a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to discuss the situation around Syria in the light of the ongoing second round of intra-Syrian talks in Geneva, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

According to the ministry, the conversation was initiated by the U.S. side.

Geneva-2 was organized by Russia and the United States and seeks to negotiate a solution to the Syrian crisis which has claimed over 100,000 lives and displaced millions since its start in 2011, according to UN statistics.
