ASTANA, February 06, 21:34 /ITAR-TASS/. Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev said Thursday he does not rule out a possibility of renaming of the country to Kazak-yeli /meaning ‘the State of the Kazakhs’/ in the future after the authorities take counsel with the people on the issue.
He said it during a trip to the western Atyrau region.
“Quite possibly we should consider a changeover of this country to the name ‘Kazak -yeli’ but the issue should be discussed with the people,” the presidential press service quoting him.
Along with it, Nazarbayev stressed an important advantage of this country, which consists in its multi-ethnicity.
“If we maintain unity and tolerance, this country will attain all the goals it has put forward for itself,” he said.
