Ukrainian President appoints Sergei Arbuzov Acting Prime Minister

KIEV, February 05, /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovich has expanded the power of Acting First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Arbuzov. The text of a presidential decree placed at the President’s official website says Arbuzov will now perform the duties of Acting Prime Minister.

The decree takes legal effect as of the date of its publication.

The Prime Minister’s post has been vacant since January 28 when the former Prime Minister, Nikolai Azarov, filed a resignation request. Yanukovich entertained the request on the same day and dismissed the Azarov cabinet in full force.

Azarov, the leader of the Party of Regions, took the prime-ministerial position in March 2010.
