MOSCOW, February 04. /ITAR-TASS/. More than 30 infrastructure facilities will be built at Russia’s Kant Air Base in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Central Military District told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

Its sources specified that plans were to build barracks, a tea house, a kindergarten as well as some airport premises. Besides, some sports facilities will be built at the air base, including a stadium, an outdoor heated swimming pool, an obstacle course, a sports hall, playgrounds for volleyball, basketball and mini football, a ground for hand-to-hand fighting as well as a sauna. Besides, the landing strip will undergo repair.

The air base in Kant is an air component of the CSTO rapid deployment force, aimed at ensuring security of the territory and air space of the Collective Security Treaty Organization countries. In October 2013, it marked its tenth anniversary.

At talks earlier with his Kyrgyz counterpart Taalaibek Omuraliyev, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said the ministry was planning to build up the combat potential of its air base in Kyrgyzstan. “We plan a steady buildup of the combat potential of the Russian air base in Kant,” he said then. Besides, in view of the situation in Afghanistan, in December Russia launched supplies of up-to-date Russian arms to Kyrgyzstan.
