Donetsk region evacuates 250 people as gas tanks catch fire

Derailed were 21 of 62 tanks with propane-butane, and five of them caught fire, two exploded

KIEV, February 02, (ITAR-TASS). About 250 people have been evacuated from the Lenino village in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, near which derailed tanks with propane-butane continue to burn, the country’s emergency situations service reports on Sunday.

“There is no danger of the local people’s poisoning,” the service said.

The authority reports about 75 fire fighters and 20 vehicles on the site as well as three fire-extinguishing and two repairing trains involved in putting out the fire.

The emergency situation occurred in the Donetsk region.

“Derailed were 21 of 62 tanks with propane-butane, and five of them caught fire, two exploded,” the emergency situations service says.

No casualties are reported.

An investigation is underway.
