“We do confirm that we will take part in the second round of the talks,” Faisal Mekdad, the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Syria, said

GENEVA, January 30, 23:00 /ITAR-TASS/. The Syrian government delegation confirms that it will come for the next round of the inter-Syrian talks in the framework of Geneva II conference, Faisal Mekdad, the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Syria, told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

“We do confirm that we will take part in the second round of the talks,” Mekdad said. “We are ready to continue the debates towards resolving the Syrian crisis,” he said.

“The present round of the talks was the beginning,” Mekdad said. He expressed the hope that the next round would be more productive and that specific themes would be brought up for discussion.

He said the opposition had not suggested any themes at the present session, the formation of an interim government being the only theme it was ready to discuss.

Mekdad stated that the next round of the talks in the frameworks of Geneva II conference was to begin on February 10 and to last one week.
