WASHINGTON, January 29. /ITAR-TASS/. The United States backs the promoting of democratic freedoms in Ukraine, President Barak Obama stated in his State of the Union address on Tuesday in the Congress. This address assigns main tasks of domestic and foreign policy of his administration in the following year.

“From Tunisia to Burma, we’re supporting those who are willing to do the hard work of building democracy. In Ukraine, we stand for the principle that all people have the right to express themselves freely and peacefully, and have a say in their country’s future,” Obama stated.

The US president also confirmed his country’s readiness to promote democracy in other regions of the world. “We do these things because they help promote our long-term security,” Obama added.
