MINSK, January 24, /ITAR-TASS/. Belarus’ foreign ministry has confirmed the death of a Belarusian national in upheavals in Kiev.
“We have received a note from the Ukrainian foreign ministry notifying about the death of a Belarusian citizen on January 22,” the Belarusian foreign ministry said on Friday, adding that the man died from a gun wound. An investigation is underway.
According to earlier reports, Belarusian citizen Mikhail Zhiznevsky, 25, was killed in mass riots in Kiev. He left Belarus in 2005 and worked as a freelance columnist in the newspaper Sobornaya Kievshchina. He was a member of the youth arm of Vitali Klitschko’s opposition party UDAR.
