Brahimi to hold separate meetings with Syrian parties in Geneva

GENEVA, January 23. /ITAR-TASS/. U.N./LAS Special Envoy for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi has have separate meetings with the delegations of the Syrian government and the opposition that take part in the Geneva II Peace Conference, U.N. spokeswoman Corinne Momal-Vanian told Itar-Tass.

The meetings will be held in Geneva. Brahimi does not intend to meet journalists, Momal-Vanian said.

On Friday, January 24, the inter-Syrian talks should be launched. Till now it is not clear if the delegations meet at one table or through a mediator. The Syrian governmental delegation is led by Foreign Minister Walid Muallem and the opposition is represented by head of the National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces Ahmed al-Jarba.
