Lavrov considers end of tragic conflict in Syria world community’s priority

MONTREUX, January 22. /ITAR-TASS/. The global community’s priority is to cease the tragic conflict in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the Geneva II Peace Conference on Wednesday.

“Our common task is to do our best to stop the tragic conflict in Syria that inflicts troubles and sufferings to the Syrian people and destroys the land. It’s necessary to prevent a new wave of disturbances in the neighboring countries and the Middle East region that goes through the most difficult period,” the Russian minister said.

“Russia backs the Arab peoples’ drive for better life, sustainable development and prosperity. We’re sure that the reforms can be effective if they are carried out by national dialogue,” he said.
