Police clear central Kiev street of protesters

KIEV, January 22. /ITAR-TASS/. Police from Ukraine's Berkut special task force unit cleared a stretch of Grushevsky Street in central Kiev of protesters to as far as the Dnepr Hotel.

The protesters numbering around 1,000 are resisting the law-enforcers, stoning and throwing Molotov cocktails at them.

Police are asking the rally through loudspeakers not to resort to violence.
