TEHRAN, January 20. /ITAR-TASS/. Iran on Monday has confirmed it received an invitation from UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to take part in the Geneva II conference on the Syrian conflict settlement that will be launched in the town of Montreux, Switzerland, on January 22, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian told the IRNA news agency.

The deputy foreign minister declined to answer the question whether Tehran would send its delegation to Switzerland, accepting the invitation.

He also declined to comment on the decision of the leadership of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces to refuse from participation in Geneva II as a sign of protest against the invitation of Iran to it.
