VIM Airlines: Charter flight with Russians aboard should leave for Russia soon

MOSCOW, January 15. /ITAR-TASS/. The charter flight with Russian tourists from Colombo, Sri Lanka, has been postponed to the 24 hours due to the technical failure of an aircraft, VIM Airlines reported on Wednesday, January 15.

“Due to the failure of the aircraft 200 passengers have been accommodated at a hotel. Foodstuffs have been provided,” the report says.

The airlines said the aircraft should take off about 8 a.m. Moscow time from Colombo. “At present, the aircraft is ready to depart. It is undergoing pre-flight inspection,” the report says, adding, “The aircraft will leave for as soon passengers are registered.”

Earlier, spokesperson to the Russian Union of Travel Industry Irina Tyurina told Itar-Tass that the aircraft should leave for soon.

About 200 passengers should return home, Tyurina said.
