PARIS, January 12, /ITAR-TASS/. An international peace conference on Syria, the Geneva-2, will be held as scheduled, the French foreign ministry said.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said the conference would be held as scheduled and would successful.
Participants in a Paris meeting of the foreign ministers from the group of friends of Syria agreed that the only way to settle the political situation in Syria was a peace conference in the Geneva-2 format.
Meanwhile, Ahmad al-Jarba, the leader of the Syrian National Coalition of Opposition and Revolutionary Forces, who also took part in the meeting, said that all the delegations present at the Paris meeting had agreed that the regime of [Syrian President] Bashar Assad had no future in Syria.
The international peace conference on Syria is expected to begin on January 22 in Switzerland’s Montreux.
