WASHINGTON, January 09, /ITAR-TASS/. US President Barack Obama has wished German Chancellor Angela Merkel a speedy recovery and invited her to visit Washington, the White House said Wednesday in a statement on the results of a telephone conversation between the leaders of the two countries.
The President had a telephone conversation with Chancellor Merkel on Wednesday, wishing her a speedy recovery after the injury she had sustained during skiing, and congratulated her on the formation of a new Cabinet, the White House statement said.
Besides, Obama and Merkel discussed an agenda for 2014, including talks on Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership and a NATO summit, and expressed readiness for close interaction in promoting common interests.
The President also conveyed an invitation to the Chancellor to visit Washington in the coming months at a time of convenience for both sides, a White House official added.
