KIEV, January 08, /ITAR-TASS/. Mass protests in Ukraine can only lead to losses and destruction, Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov said.
“Barricades in the country will bring no more meat, bread, butter or swimming pools. There will only be losses and destruction,” he said.
“There are too many people in the country who do only the talking while doing nothing else. If we keep talking and accusing each other, this will do us no good,” the prime minister said.
On November 21, Ukraine suspended preparations for signing the Association Agreement with the European Union because it had not received a clear signal indicating Europe’s readiness to compensate it for losses from worsening relations with CIS countries.
The government’s decision caused the opposition to bring people to streets in Kiev and other Ukrainian cities to demonstrate their support for European integration. Mass protests have been going on in Kiev ever since.
