RIGA, January 06, 20:04 /ITAR-TASS/. Latvia’s President Andris Berzins on Monday commissioned Minister of Agriculture Laimdota Straujuma to form a new government of the country. If she enrolls Saeima (parliament) approval, Straujuma will be Latvia’s first female Prime Minister.
He candidature was nominated late of Sunday by the Unity association led by Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis, who had earlier announced the government’s resignation, and the Party of Reforms lead by former President Valdis Zatlers.
On Monday, the minister of agriculture managed to enroll support from other political forces, which seek to form a new ruling coalition. Now she has to agree the distribution of ministerial portfolios with potential partners.
