Beijing calls on other countries not to hide terrorists but to pass them to China

BEIJING, January 02,  /ITAR-TASS/. China calls on governments of other countries not to hide terrorists, but to pass them to the Chinese authorities, representative of China’s foreign ministry Qin Gan said on Thursday.

“We have always demanded from the US to return Chinese citizens, who remain in the Guantanamo prison. We are against passing them to third countries, and we are against the practice where other countries are accepting those prisoners,” the diplomat said.

Those prisoners “are members in the Eastern Turkestan Islamic movement, which the UN Security Council has recognised as a terrorist organisation,” he said. “Those people are dangerous not only for China, but also for the accepting countries.”

“We hope the countries will comply with the international obligations and will not offer shelters to terrorists and will pass them to the Chinese authorities,” Qin Gan said.

Several days earlier, the United States extradited to Slovenia three three Uigurs, Chinese citizens, who had spent twelve years in the Guantanamo prison for terrorists.
