Ukrainian PM considers easing trade procedure key point of presidency in CIS

KIEV, December 25. /ITAR-TASS/. Functioning of the CIS free trade zone without restrictions and exemptions is Ukraine’s priority, Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov said on Wednesday.

“In several days Ukraine will preside in the Commonwealth. The launch of all cooperation mechanisms in compliance with the free trade agreement of October 18, 2011 will be the main point of Ukraine’s presidency in the CIS,” Azarov said.

Ukraine’s presidency will also seek to harmonise technical regulations and ease procedures in mutual trade, the premier said.

“The Customs Union (Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan) agreement contains norms to remove technical barriers with the CIS countries, which are not Customs Union members. We want to use these mechanisms in order to settle trade disagreements,” Azarov said.

It is very important for Ukraine to return positions on the markets where it supplies 40 percent of products, he added.
