European integration is priority of Ukraine’s foreign policy - parliament speaker

KIEV, December 24, /ITAR-TASS/. European integration is a top priority of Ukraine’s foreign policy, the press service of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada (parliament) quoted speaker Vladimir Rybak as saying on Tuesday.

At the same time, according to the press service, the speaker noted the importance of Russia’s support and further development of friendly relations with Russia.

The current parliament has taken a number of European integration laws and that laid the basis for introducing European living standards in the country, he noted.

At the same time, he stressed that further efforts were needed to continue talks between the parliamentary majority and the opposition. “Ukraine is a rich state, and the lawmakers must pass laws that will facilitate the implementation of election programmes that will help improve people’s life,” he said, adding that “political forces must be able to come to agreement and reach compromises.
