ASTANA, December 19. /ITAR-TASS/. Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbaev plans to take part in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Sochi, the country’s Foreign Affairs Minister Yerlan Idrisov told a press conference on Thursday.
“The head of state plans to participate in the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi,” he stated.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry’s head expressed hope that the Sochi Games would be “a dramatic event”. “You know that Almaty was rivaling Sochi for the right to host 2014 Olympics, and we hope that our entry for 2022 would be successful, and that’s why we are interested in Sochi success,” Idrisov noted.
Earlier, the head of national sports agency Tastanbek Yesentaev said that Kazakhstan planned to send about 300 fans to Sochi Olympics to support their national team.
