KIEV, December 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine may reach an agreement on a new Russian gas price for the country at a meeting of the Ukrainian-Russian intergovernmental commission that will be held in Moscow on December 17, chairman of the parliamentary faction of the Party of Regions Alexander Yefremov told a briefing on Monday.
According to him, Naftogaz Ukrainy and Russia’s Gazprom have prepared a protocol for signing.
“The natural gas price issue is raised in these protocols. The price is not specified in them,” the politician said. “If the protocol is signed, the price will be known on Tuesday evening or on Wednesday,” he added.
In the view of the Ukrainian side, Yefremov stressed, the gas price for Kiev should not exceed “the average European gas price.”
Ukraine’s prime minister previously said that Kiev and Moscow might settle the gas issue at a regular meeting of the intergovernmental commission.
“I hope that we will finalize the problem at this meeting,” the premier said. According to him, Ukraine intends to again raise the issue of the creation of a trilateral consortium (with the participation of Russia and the EU) on the management of the Ukrainian gas transportation system.
