LVOV, December 08, 0:41 /ITAR-TASS/. A rally in support of European integration of Ukraine has gathered about 1,000 participants at the Monument to Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko on Svobody Avenue in the western Ukrainian city of Lvov on Saturday. Even a really winter weather that set in the region did not hamper the oppositionists to meet. From early Saturday morning the wet snow with squally winds has been going on in the city.
The organizers of the action urged the demonstrators “not to be indifferent” and go to Kiev for a rally on Sunday. “You will not be able to help in the native city, only in Kiev, only in the heart of Ukraine, only on December 8! A march of millions! Pack your suitcase and go to Kiev,” the propagandistic material available at Itar-Tass and prepared by the organizing committee of the protest action read.
Lvov residents also intend to convene a people’s assembly (veche) at the Monument to Shevchenko on Sunday to adopt “a detailed plan of further actions” to make the country’s authorities sign an association agreement with the European Union.
