Ukraine’s ruling Party of Regions has set up a regional crisis management headquarters in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, to stabilize the political situation in the country, Igor Chichasov, the deputy head of the local party organization, told journalists on Saturday.

According to him, the headquarters is a coordination body formed to promote dialogue with political parties, work collectives, public organizations and trade unions. The Party of Regions expects it to become a public floor for discussing the current situation and ways of its settlement.

The headquarters comprises representatives of public, veteran and youth organizations; creative workers, academics and experts as well as representatives of bodies organized by the population. The headquarters’ coordinator, Alexander Kravtsov, said that Donbass was a territory of tolerance and support.

Kravtsov added that the residents of Donbass were calling on the authorities to avert chaos and civil confrontation in Ukraine and return life in the country back to normal.

He said that one of the headquarters’ main tasks was to carry out explanatory work and give objective coverage of the current political situation in Ukraine and the initiatives of state power bodies and public organizations aimed at preserving civil peace and tranquility in the country.
