BRUSSELS, December 03, 23:43 /ITAR-TASS/. The European Union is ready for talks with Ukraine on the terms of the implementation of the association and tree trade zone agreement, but not on the text of that agreement, European Commission spokesman Olivier Bailly told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
He stressed that the European Commission had not changed its position after the Monday telephone conversation between European Commission President Jose Manual Barroso and Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich. The position, he said, was based on four considerations. First, the European Union is ready to negotiate the terms of inuring the association and free trade zone agreement with Ukraine. Second, it is not going to plunge into talks on the text of that agreement that has already been initialed and is not subject to changes. Third, the European Union is ready to receive a Ukraine delegation but has no information from the Ukrainian authorities about the date of its arrival in Brussels. Fourth, the European Union’s conditions for signing the initialed association agreement are still in force.
