Ukrainian opposition leader calls for government resignation

KIEV, December 03. /ITAR-TASS/. A Ukrainian opposition leader demanded the government's resignation saying it should be held responsible for breaking up the rally and the economic collapse.

"We're demanding the government resignation," said Vitali Klitschko, leader of the Udar opposition party, urging Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich to step down of his own accord.

He added that the whole leadership of the Interior Ministry should be held criminally responsible.

Several thousand people have gathered near the parliament building which police have cordoned off.

Meanwhile, lawmaker Anatoly Kinakh from the ruling Party of Regions suggested at the parliament session on Tuesday that a special body should be set up to consider the situation in the country.
