KIEV, December 02. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukrainian Defense Minister Pavel Lebedev rejected the reports posted in the Internet that tank formations are being dispatched to Kiev to introduce a state of emergency in the country. “This is a sheer provocation regarding the tanks,” he said in an interview with the news service of the TV channel 1+1 on Monday.
In reply to the question whether he is controlling the situation as the defense minister he said in the emotional way, “Certainly, no, I am not. The military are participating if the state of emergency is introduced. Should I not be aware of it, it means that the state of emergency is not introduced.”
On Sunday, a leader of the opposition Arseny Yatsenyuk stated that the incumbent authorities had formed a committee of emergency situation headed by Interior Minister Vitaly Zakharchenko and Secretary of the Ukrainian Security Council Andrei Klyuyev.
