Russian airlines have no flights over special East China Sea zone

MOSCOW, November 29. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian airlines do not fly over the special zone designated by China in the East China Sea, a source at the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviation) told Itar-Tass.

No flights there, the Rosaviation official said.

Aircraft of the Chinese Air Force on Thursday began to patrol the air defense zone in the East China Sea, Xinhua cited an Air Force official as saying.

According to the Chinese official, several fighters and an early detection plane carried out a patrolling mission within the defense measures and in accordance with the international practice.

The Chinese Air Force will remain highly vigilant and take measures to respond to various threats in the air to reliably protect the country's air space, the official noted.

The Chinese Defense Ministry on November 23 announced there was an air defense identification zone in the East China Sea, including Diaoyu Island (Senkaku).
